PWA Checker

A progressive web app (PWA) can be installed on phones and computers like a native app. This checker loads a page and tests what browsers look for: HTTPS, a linked manifest with the right fields, 192 and 512 pixel icons, a maskable icon, theme colours and a service worker with offline support. Each check explains how to fix it.

1. Enter the page URL, usually your homepage.
2. Click Check.
3. Fix the red items first (they stop installation), then the amber ones.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my service worker not found?

The checker looks for navigator.serviceWorker.register() in the page and its first same-site scripts. Workers registered by bundled or third-party scripts can be missed; Chrome DevTools > Application shows the truth.

Do I need a service worker to be installable?

Chrome dropped the requirement in 2024, but without one your app does not work offline, and other browsers may still expect it.
