Every broken link is a dead end for visitors and wastes the time search engines spend crawling your site. This checker reads a page, or crawls your whole site, and tests every link and image it finds, so you can fix or remove the ones that no longer work.

How to use Broken Link Checker

1. Enter a page address or your homepage, such as https://example.com.
2. Choose This page only for a quick check, or Whole website to follow your internal links and check up to 100 pages.
3. Click Check links. Results appear as they come in, and you can stop the check at any time.
4. Start with the Broken list: each row shows the dead link, the error and the page it was found on. Download the list as a CSV file to share it or work through it.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a broken link?

A link is broken when it returns an error such as 404 Not Found, 410 Gone or a 5xx server error, when its domain no longer exists, or when the connection fails because of an invalid SSL certificate. Redirects are listed separately: they still work, but linking straight to the final address is faster.

What does "Blocked" mean?

Some sites, especially social networks and sites behind bot protection, refuse automated requests with a 401, 403, 429 or 999 status even though the page opens fine in a browser. Open those links yourself before you remove anything.

How many pages can it check?

A whole-website check follows your internal links and checks up to 100 pages, with every link and image on them. Each address is checked only once, however many pages link to it.

Does it check images and nofollow links?

Yes. Every link and image on the page is checked. Nofollow links are marked in the results so you can tell them apart.
