CMS Detector

Every platform leaves traces: WordPress loads files from /wp-content/, Shopify serves images from its own CDN, page builders add their own class names and many tools print a generator tag. This detector reads a page's HTML, response headers and cookies and matches them against the fingerprints of more than 130 platforms, frameworks, plugins, analytics tools and services.

How to use CMS Detector

1. Enter the address of the website you want to look at.
2. Click Detect technology.
3. See the main platform at the top, then everything else grouped by type, with version numbers where the site shows them.

When it comes in handy

• Finding out what a competitor or a site you admire is built with.
• Checking which SEO plugin, page builder or analytics a client's site already runs.
• Qualifying leads, for example finding shops that run on Shopify or WooCommerce.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it say no CMS was found?

The site may be custom-built, use a headless CMS that leaves no trace in the HTML, or deliberately hide its platform. Detection only sees what the page reveals.

Is the version number reliable?

It is the version the site itself shows, for example in a generator tag or a file name. Some sites remove or fake these, so treat versions as a hint.

Does it check the whole site?

It looks at one page. Plugins and scripts that only load on certain pages, such as a checkout, may only show up when you check that page.
