Open Graph Checker
Preview how a link looks on Facebook, X, LinkedIn and WhatsApp, and check its Open Graph and Twitter tags.
Open Graph Checker
When someone shares your link, social networks and messaging apps build the preview from Open Graph tags: og:title, og:description and og:image. If they are missing, the preview falls back to whatever the network can find, which is often the wrong image or no image at all. This checker reads the tags, measures the share image and shows how the link will look on the main networks.
How to use Open Graph Checker
- Enter the full address of the page you want to share.
- Click Preview and check.
- Look at the previews, then fix anything marked Missing or Improve. The suggested tags at the bottom are ready to paste into your page's <head>.
- After changing the tags, refresh the cached preview with the network's own tool, such as Facebook's Sharing Debugger.
When it comes in handy
- Checking a blog post or landing page before you promote it.
- Finding out why a link shows the wrong image or no image on Facebook or WhatsApp.
- Making sure share images are the right size, 1200 × 630 pixels.
Frequently asked questions
- What size should the og:image be?
- Use 1200 × 630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) as a JPG or PNG under about 5 MB. Smaller images are shown as a small thumbnail or not at all, and SVG images are not supported.
- I fixed the tags but Facebook still shows the old preview. Why?
- Networks cache previews. Paste the URL into Facebook's Sharing Debugger and click "Scrape again"; LinkedIn has a Post Inspector that does the same.
- Does X (Twitter) need its own tags?
- Only twitter:card. X reads og:title, og:description and og:image, so add twitter:card with the value summary_large_image to get a large image.
