Alt text describes an image for people who use screen readers, for search engines, and for anyone whose images fail to load. The Image Alt Text Checker lists every image on a page with a thumbnail and its alt text, and sorts out the problems: images with no alt attribute, linked images whose only content has no text, alt text that is a file name like IMG_2041.jpg or a generic word like "image", and alt text that is far too long. Decorative images with an empty alt="" are shown separately.

How to use Image Alt Text Checker

1. Enter the page address.
2. Click Check images.
3. Work through the Problems list: add a short description to each image, or alt="" if it is purely decorative.
4. Check the page again after publishing your changes.
