Heading Structure Checker

Headings give a page its structure. Search engines use them to understand the topics a page covers, and screen reader users jump between them to navigate. The Heading Structure Checker lists every H1 to H6 heading in the order it appears, indented as an outline, and flags the usual problems: no H1 or several H1s, levels that skip (an H4 straight after an H2), empty headings, very long headings and repeated ones.

Is more than one H1 bad for SEO?

Google has said several H1s are not a problem in themselves. One clear H1 is still the simplest way to say what the page is about, and it makes the outline easier to follow.

Why are headings from my header and footer included?

They are part of the page. If they are only there for styling, use normal text with a CSS class instead of a heading tag.
