Global Ping Test
A ping from your own computer only tells you how fast a server answers you. This test pings it from up to 15 locations at the same time, anywhere in the world or in the region you choose, and shows the minimum, average and maximum response time and the packet loss from each one. It is the quickest way to check whether a server or CDN is fast for visitors in other countries, or whether an outage is local or global.
How to use Global Ping Test
- Enter a domain name or IP address.
- Choose a region or country and how many locations to test from.
- Choose ICMP, or TCP with a port if the server blocks ping.
- Click Run ping test and compare the results.
When it comes in handy
- Checking a website's speed from your customers' countries.
- Comparing hosting or CDN providers.
- Finding out whether a problem affects everyone or only one area.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a good ping time?
- Under 50 ms is excellent, under 100 ms is good for websites, and over 200 ms feels slow. Distance matters: light takes about 70 ms to cross the Atlantic and back.
- Why is there packet loss?
- Some networks drop ping packets when busy, or the server limits ping. Loss on every location points to the server; loss from one place points to that network.
- How is this different from the Ping tool?
- Our Ping tool tests from our own server. This one tests from many places around the world at once.
