Video Compressor

Reduce video file size with H.264: choose the compression strength and a maximum resolution.

Processed in your browser: your files are never uploaded.

The video engine (FFmpeg) downloads once, about 31 MB, and then works offline in this tab. Processing runs on your own device, so long or 4K videos can take a while; keep the tab open until it finishes.

Video Compressor

Phone videos are huge: a minute of 4K can be several hundred megabytes. This compressor re-encodes the video with H.264, the format every device plays, at a quality level you choose, and can lower the resolution to 1080p, 720p or 480p at the same time. That usually cuts the file size by 50 to 90% while keeping the video clear. The result is an MP4 ready to share.

How to use Video Compressor

  1. Choose a video (up to 500 MB).
  2. Pick the compression strength and the maximum size (720p is right for most sharing).
  3. Click Compress video and wait; the progress bar shows the time left.
  4. Watch the result and download it.

When it comes in handy

  • Getting a video under the Discord, email or WhatsApp limit.
  • Making videos load faster on a website.
  • Saving space on your phone or cloud storage.

Frequently asked questions

Which settings should I use?
Balanced compression at 720p suits almost everything. Use Strong for the smallest file, or keep the original size if the video will be shown full screen on a large display.
Why does it take a while?
Everything is processed on your own computer or phone instead of a server. Short clips take seconds; long or 4K videos can take several minutes. Keep the tab open until it finishes.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The video engine runs in your browser, so your files stay on your device. Only the engine itself (FFmpeg, about 31 MB) is downloaded, once.
