URL Encoder
Percent-encode spaces, symbols and accented letters so a URL or query value travels safely.
URL Encoder
URLs may only contain a limited set of characters. Anything else, such as spaces, accents, ampersands inside values or non-Latin letters, has to be converted to a percent sign followed by hex digits before it can travel safely in a link or request.
How to use URL Encoder
- Paste the text or URL into URL to Encode.
- Click Encode URL.
- Copy the encoded string and use it in your link, redirect or API call.
When it comes in handy
- Building query-string values that contain spaces, & or = signs.
- Passing a whole URL as a parameter of another URL, for example a redirect target.
- Debugging a link that breaks because of an unescaped character.
Frequently asked questions
Why does a space become a plus sign?
This encoder uses the form-style rule, where a space is written as + and other unsafe characters as %XX. Most servers read + in a query string as a space.
Should I encode a full URL or just the value?
Encode only the parts that carry data, such as a parameter value. Encoding an entire URL also escapes the slashes and colon that give it structure.
