Typing ssh -i ~/.ssh/key -p 65002 user@203.0.113.10 every time is tedious. An entry in ~/.ssh/config lets you type ssh myserver instead. Fill in the details for each server, including an optional jump host (bastion), keep-alive and agent forwarding, and copy the ready-made configuration.
How to use SSH Config Generator
- Enter an alias and the server's host name or IP, user, port and key file.
- Add a jump host if you connect through a bastion server.
- Tick the options you want, such as keep-alive or using only the named key.
- Copy the block into ~/.ssh/config (create the file if it does not exist), then run ssh alias.

Frequently asked questions
- Where is the config file on Windows?
- In C:\Users\YourName\.ssh\config for the built-in OpenSSH client. Use a plain text editor and save it without a .txt extension.
- Is agent forwarding safe?
- Only to servers you trust: anyone with root on that server can use your forwarded agent while you are connected. ProxyJump is safer for reaching servers behind a bastion.
